We are a hardware team that utilizes agile and scrum practices to develop at the pace of a software team. As a part of the hardware engineering team you will be working with our cutting edge 3D printers to manufacture custom braces and test new designs never before envisioned on the orthodontic market.

Everyday, we are redefining the future of orthodontics and the level of care that patients receive. To support our growth, we are looking for a Senior Hardware Engineer to play a key role in the development and growth of our product.

As a Hardware Engineer, you will play a major role in product areas that can include:

  • Product Development
  • Production and Manufacturing Efficiencies
  • New and Advanced Technology Integrations

As a Hardware Engineer, in one of these areas, you will drive our vision for growth and help us revolutionize the Orthodontic profession. Working directly with our customers, management team, engineers and manufacturing technicians, you will not only see all phases of a new technology but will be a vital part in decision making and product commercialization.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work directly with product management, product development engineers and production
    • Collaborate on design, implementation, testing and release of new products
    • Evaluate customer feedback and translate it into new product requirements within a regulatory bound landscape
  • Design, implement, test and maintain features critical to the success of our customers (internal & external) using a variety of technologies
    • Testing and creating new technologies to redefine the product landscape
    • Designing and fabricating in concept phases
    • Performance testing for regulatory and quality acceptance and validation and verification activities of final products
  • Tackle multiple projects simultaneously in a dynamic scrum focused team environment to produce quickly and efficiently

This individual will not only see all phases of a new technology but will be a vital part in decision making and product commercialization. He/She will initiate and take ownership of product research and development processes as well as testing and manufacturing. This individual will report directly to the Director of Hardware Engineering but will have constant interactions with heads of software, product, marketing, sales and the CEO.

Education and Required Experience/Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree, in Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
  • Experience in CAD modeling (preferably SolidWorks), protocol and testing development, and rapid prototyping
  • 3-5 years of product development experience working with engineers, designers, and other product leaders

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge in the fields of ceramics, robotics and manufacturing is a plus.
  • Experience with medical devices, device design/product development, universal testing machines machines, and testing protocol development
  • Ability to tackle multiple projects simultaneously in a dynamic team environment is essential.
  • Must be a self-starter, diligent with deadlines and able to manage oneself in multiple projects
  • Strong organizational skills, creativity, motivation, and communication (oral and written) skills, especially ability to work and communicate with non-engineers.

Physical Demands

  • Requires the ability to use hands, and reach with hands and arms
  • Requires the ability to see, listen, and speak
  • Requires the ability to view and reliably identify small (< 1 mm), low-contrast features on parts/components
  • Requires the ability to lift up to 20 pounds
  • Requires work activities with production chemicals, adhesives and epoxies, using required personal protective equipment
  • Be in close contact (<6ft) with other engineers and production personnel for long periods at a time

Work Environment

Mixture of office, engineering laboratory and production environment.

  • Work is generally performed in an open office, sedentary position.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud
  • Limited temperature fluctuations, heated and air condition environment
  • Work is performed near moving mechanical parts and occasionally with sensitive chemicals.
