About the LightForce Hardware Team

We are a hardware team that utilizes agile and scrum practices to develop at the pace of a software team. As a part of the hardware engineering team you will be working with our cutting edge 3D printers to manufacture custom braces and test new designs never before envisioned on the orthodontic market.

Description

Everyday, we are redefining the future of orthodontics and the level of care that patients receive. To support our growth, we are looking for an R&D Technician to play a key role in the development and growth of our product.

In this role, you will play a major part in the development cycle for all of LightForce’s physical products.

As an R&D Technician, you will work alongside engineers from hardware and manufacturing to help drive the growth of our product. You will not only see all phases of a new technology but will be a vital part in the decision making process for new products and designs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • Test features critical to the success of our customers using a variety of technologies
      • Fabricating new products in concept phases
      • Testing new technologies to redefine the product landscape
      • Performance testing for regulatory and quality acceptance and validation and verification activities of final products
    • Assist with digital validations necessary for the release of novel features and products
    • Complete necessary documentation related to product validation

    This individual will not only see all phases of a new technology but will be a vital part in the decision making process for new products. They will initiate and take ownership of product research as well as testing and manufacturing. This individual will report directly to the Director of Hardware Engineering.

    Required Qualifications

      • Must be a self-starter, diligent with deadlines and able to manage oneself in multiple projects
      • Strong organizational skills, creativity, motivation, and communication (oral and written) skills
      • Detail-oriented, with the ability to carefully consider and inspect work being done for unexpected deviations
      • Experience in manufacturing and operation of testing equipment
      • Experience in 3D design

      Preferred Qualifications

        • Experience with medical devices, universal testing machines, and testing protocols.
        • Knowledge in the fields of 3D printing and ceramics is a plus.

        Physical Demands

        • While performing the duties of this job, the individual is regularly required to:

          • Sit or stand, use hands, reach with hands and arms, see, listen, and speak
          • Be in close contact (<6ft) with other engineers and production personnel for long periods at a time
